About Us

We are a network of multi-service, community-based health and resource centres.

The Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centers of Ottawa (CHRCs)

We are a collective of 13 Community Health and Resource Centers located throughout Ottawa in rural, urban, and suburban communities. Deeply connected to communities across the city, we work together as a Coalition for maximum collective impact.

Commitment to Equity

We harness our collective influence to address issues affecting our organizations and the residents we support. Guided by a commitment to equity, we engage and support groups facing barriers in meeting their basic needs.

As leaders in systems change, we collaborate with residents, community organizations, City services, and other partners to achieve equity for all. We respect the varied perspectives within Ottawa’s neighborhoods and tailor our inclusive approach to the unique needs of each community.

We work with social service partners, the City, Public Health, and others to support residents and drive systems change. While CHRC services vary across the City, we are united in addressing mental health, poverty reduction, and housing issues.

Community Health and Resource Centres in Ottawa

Community Health and Resource Centres have been around for the last 50 years.

While we all started at about the same time, each Centre has its own unique origin story that responds to the needs in each individual neighbourhood: Carlington started as a childcare centre; Sandy Hill was a medical clinic; Centretown started with services for youth.

Fast forward to 2025, and we are a strong collective of 13 multiservice centres, who continue to be deeply rooted in communities citywide.

Have a look at the report below to read more about the history of how CHRCs came to be.
