Community Based Crisis Response
The Coalition of CHRCs supports various Post Incident Neighborhood Support Teams that are situated throughout the city in urban, rural and suburban communities in Ottawa.
These community-based, post-incident response teams incorporate strategies to effectively and sensitively attend to the needs of those impacted by a traumatic event. It does this by:
- Engaging residents to understand local needs;
- Connecting with affected communities to reduce distress and provide information;
- Working with community partners and resident leaders to stabilize communities after an incident;
- Limiting risk of further crisis;
- Building community resilience; and
- Helping to restore the regular routine after an incident.
