Ottawa Good Food Box

The Ottawa Good Food Box remains one of the successful Community Development programs.

Ottawa Good Food BoxBackground

The Ottawa Good Food Box is a project partner of the Coalition. It is a non-profit community-based initiative bringing neighbours together to buy a variety of delicious and nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables at wholesale prices. The goal of the program is to purchase food that is in season and is grown as close to home as possible. The Centretown Community Health Centre is the main organizer of this program.

With over 30 distribution sites within the Ottawa region, the local community has easy access to the food distribution services. The products for purchase range from fruit sized bags to large boxes that cater for different family sizes. The Good Food Box also engages in a variety of programs geared towards improving the health and nutrition of the local population. Some of these programs include:

  • The Good Food Box presentations
  • Cooking demonstrations
  • Good nutrition workshops

Other upcoming events are posted on their website throughout the year.
